Members of Nigeria’s Super Eagles have received their national honours certificates alongside housing and land allocations, rewards tied to their runner-up finish at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Côte d’Ivoire, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The honours were part of the rewards earlier approved by the Federal Government following the team’s impressive run to the final of the continental tournament, where Nigeria finished second after losing to hosts Côte d’Ivoire.

Players and officials of the team had previously been conferred with national honours, including the Member of the Order of the Niger (MON), in recognition of their dedication and performance at the tournament.

In addition to the honours, the Super Eagles were also promised housing units and land allocations, a commitment which is now being fulfilled as the certificates were officially presented.

The gesture has been widely praised as a morale booster for the national team, with many believing it will further motivate the players to strive for greater success in future international competitions.

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will now turn their focus to the ongoing AFCON tournaments in Morocco
