Super Eagles Star Ndidi Named Besiktas Vice-Captain

Turkish giants Besiktas FC have appointed Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder and stand-in captain, Wilfred Ndidi, as the club’s new vice-captain, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The announcement was made through an official statement issued by the club’s board of directors.

Ndidi will serve as deputy to Orkun Kökçü, the Turkish international midfielder who has been named the new team captain.

The club’s statement read: "With the decision of our President Serdal Island and the Board of Directors, changes have been made regarding the captaincy of our Football A Team. Based on the recommendation of our technical team and the players’ effectiveness on the field, Orkun Kökçü has been appointed as the first captain and Wilfred Ndidi as the second captain.” 

The new leadership duo is expected to begin their duties when Besiktas return to action next week.
