Transfer Update: Aribo Set For Southampton Departure

Nigerian international Joe Aribo is reportedly pushing for a move away from Southampton, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 29-year-old midfielder is unwilling to endure another season in the Championship following the Saints’ relegation from the Premier League last term.
His absence from Southampton’s opening league fixture against Wrexham on Saturday further fuelled speculation about his imminent exit.
Aribo has been linked with a range of suitors, including La Liga’s Villarreal, Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig, and Premier League side Aston Villa.
Turkish clubs Trabzonspor and Goztepe have also been mentioned, though a move to Turkey appears less likely at this point.
Signed from Scottish Premiership giants Rangers three years ago, Aribo’s time at St. Mary’s has been mixed.
He played a vital role in Southampton’s promotion back to the top flight in the 2024/25 season, making 32 appearances and scoring three goals.
However, his overall impact has not matched the consistency he showed at Rangers, where he became a fan favourite and reached the Europa League final.
