Transfer Update: Atalanta CEO Explains Why Club Signed Nigerian Youngster

Atalanta CEO Luca Percassi has disclosed why the club decided to sign promising Nigerian defender Honest Ahanor, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Serie A side, former UEFA Europa League champions, officially unveiled the 17-year-old on Wednesday after he successfully completed his medicals.

 “We are proud to present Honest,” Percassi said.

 “We’ve been monitoring him for a long time, having seen him several times at youth level. He has always stood out for his qualities on the pitch, and when we got to know him personally, we were impressed by his maturity off the pitch, which goes far beyond his age.”

Born in Aversa, Italy, Ahanor is of Nigerian descent through his parents and remains eligible to represent Nigeria at the international level.
