With the countdown to the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco already underway, Tunisia’s head coach, Chihab Ellili, has identified six countries he believes have the quality to go all the way, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Ellili, a former ES Sétif manager, was quick to downplay Tunisia’s chances of lifting the trophy, admitting that the Carthage Eagles are not genuine contenders due to what he described as the “average quality” of their Europe-based players and the steady decline of talents from the domestic league.

According to him, the real title challengers are host nation Morocco, Algeria, Egypt, Senegal, Cameroon, and Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

Tunisia’s only AFCON triumph came in 2004 on home soil, where they defeated Morocco in the final after edging past Nigeria in the semifinals via a penalty shootout.

The 2025 AFCON will be staged in Morocco from December 21, 2025, to January 18, 2026.
