Tunisia Set To Hijack Chelle From Nigeria
Sampson Adedeji
Tunisia have reportedly entered the race to lure Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle away from Nigeria following his impressive showing at the ongoing 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Franco-Malian tactician has attracted widespread attention after leading Nigeria to a perfect record at the tournament, establishing the Super Eagles as one of the standout teams of the competition.
Chelle’s stock has risen further after Nigeria defeated Tunisia 3–2 in their Group Stage encounter, a result that ultimately contributed to the Carthage Eagles’ early struggles at the tournament.
Tunisia, who were coached by Sami Trabelsi during the competition, exited AFCON 2025 in the second round.
Trabelsi subsequently stepped down from his role, prompting the Tunisia Football Federation (TFF) to begin the search for a new head coach ahead of the upcoming World Cup campaign later this year.
According to reports, Chelle has emerged as one of the leading candidates being considered by the TFF due to his tactical acumen and the rapid impact he has made with Nigeria.
However, sources indicate that no formal contact has yet been established between the Tunisian federation and the Super Eagles coach.
With Nigeria still actively competing at AFCON 2025, any potential move is expected to be addressed only after the tournament, as Chelle remains fully focused on guiding the Super Eagles in their quest for continental glory.
