Unity Cup: Oseni Delighted With Super Eagles Invitation

Newly invited attacker Owen Oseni has expressed his excitement after receiving his maiden call-up to Nigeria’s Super Eagles squad for the upcoming Unity Cup in London, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Nigeria national football team invitee, who plays for Plymouth Argyle F.C., described the opportunity to represent Nigeria as a huge moment in his career following an impressive end to the season.

Oseni admitted that being selected for the national team of a country with such a large football population made the invitation even more special.

“I know I had an alright season, but to get called up for a country where there's more than 240 million people and probably 50% want to play for their country was quite a big deal for me, so I was really buzzing,” he said.

“The coaches were watching me, obviously they picked up on the form I'd hit just towards the end of the season.”

The Unity Cup tournament will provide Oseni with an opportunity to stake his claim for a regular place in the Super Eagles squad as Nigeria prepares for future international engagements.
