The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has honoured Ejike Uzoenyi, former Super Eagles winger, by naming him among the greatest players in the history of the African Nations Championship (CHAN), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Uzoenyi etched his name into CHAN folklore during the 2014 edition of the tournament held in South Africa, where he played a pivotal role in helping Nigeria clinch a bronze medal.

Widely celebrated for his blistering pace and pinpoint deliveries from the left wing, the former Enugu Rangers standout was a standout performer throughout the competition. His consistent excellence earned him the prestigious Most Valuable Player (MVP) award of the tournament.

Uzoenyi’s display at CHAN 2014 also earned him a call-up to Nigeria’s squad for the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil—further testament to the impact of his performances on the continental stage.

Beyond CHAN, Uzoenyi was also part of the Super Eagles team that won the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), also hosted in South Africa, solidifying his legacy as one of Nigeria’s most decorated wingers of his generation.
