Nigeria’s Super Falcons have taken a big step toward clinching a record 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title, following a dramatic 2-1 victory over defending champions South Africa in Tuesday’s semi-final clash, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The tense encounter at the Larbi Zauoi Stadium saw Nigeria draw first blood, with captain Rasheedat Ajibade converting from the penalty spot to give her side the lead.

South Africa responded with a penalty of their own, as Linda Motlhalo made no mistake after Osinachi Ohale fouled a Banyana Banyana striker in the box.

With the match seemingly heading for extra time, Michelle Alozie struck late to restore Nigeria’s lead and seal a memorable 2-1 win booking the Super Falcons a place in the WAFCON 2024 final.
