WAFCON 2026: CAF Confirms 12 Qualified Teams, To Decide Remaining Four Slots

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has officially confirmed 12 nations that have secured their qualification for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON), set to take place in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

With Morocco already qualified as hosts, 11 other countries have now joined them following the completion of the final qualifying round. The 2026 edition of the continental showpiece marks an expansion from 12 to 16 participating teams.

However, four more places are still open, as CAF is yet to decide the format for determining the remaining slots among the 11 teams that were eliminated in the final qualifying round.

Qualified Teams (12):

Morocco (hosts), Zambia, Tanzania, Malawi, Algeria, Nigeria, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Kenya, South Africa, Cape Verde, and Senegal.

CAF is expected to make an official announcement soon regarding how the last four teams will be selected to complete the lineup for what promises to be an exciting and historic WAFCON 2026.
