The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has confirmed the four additional countries that will complete the 16-team lineup for the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Following the expansion of the tournament from 12 to 16 teams, CAF awarded the four extra qualification slots based on the latest FIFA Women’s World Rankings.

According to the official release, Cameroon (66th), Côte d’Ivoire (71st), Mali (79th), and Egypt (95th) have all earned automatic qualification to join the 12 teams that booked their spots through the October 2025 qualifiers.

The expanded format marks a new chapter for women’s football in Africa, giving more nations the opportunity to compete at the continental level and further showcasing the growth of the women’s game across the continent.
