WAFCON 2026: Cameroon Edge Super Falcons, Secure World Cup Ticket
Sampson Adedeji
Cameroon’s Indomitable Lionesses have ended Nigeria’s title defence at the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco following a narrow 1–0 victory over the Super Falcons on Sunday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Myriam Nyadjou scored the only goal of the encounter in the 20th minute, giving Cameroon a crucial lead they successfully defended until the final whistle.
The Super Falcons pushed for an equaliser but struggled to break down a disciplined Cameroonian defence as the Indomitable Lionesses held on for a vital victory.
The result earns Cameroon a ticket to the 2027 FIFA Women’s World Cup, while Nigeria must now rely on the playoff route to keep their hopes of qualifying for the global tournament alive.
The defeat also ends Nigeria’s bid to retain the WAFCON title after the Super Falcons were crowned African champions in the previous edition.
