WAFCON 2026: Cameroon Unveils Final Squad As Two Key Players Withdraw
Sampson Adedeji
Cameroon have announced their final 26-player squad for the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, but the Indomitable Lionesses will head into the tournament without two of their key players, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Experienced forward Njoya Ajara and defender Falonne Meffometou have both withdrawn from the squad, dealing a significant blow to Cameroon's preparations ahead of the continental showpiece.
Despite the absence of the influential duo, the Indomitable Lionesses will be aiming to make a strong impression at the tournament as they seek to challenge for the African title.
Cameroon have been drawn in Group D, where they will face Cabo Verde, Mali and Ghana in the group stage of the competition. The team will now shift focus to final preparations before kicking off their WAFCON 2026 campaign in Morocco.
