WAFCON 2026: Super Falcons Receive Major Boost As Okoronkwo Resumes Training

Ahead of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) in Morocco, the preparations of Nigeria's Super Falcons have received a significant boost with the return of forward Esther Okoronkwo to training, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The left-footed attacker had been sidelined for some time due to injury and was unavailable for Nigeria's recent international friendly double-header against Senegal.
However, Okoronkwo has now confirmed her recovery and readiness to return to action after resuming training ahead of the continental tournament.
The Super Falcons forward shared the positive update through her social media account, posting:
"Back on my feet. Mission en route 👊🏾"
Her return will come as welcome news for the Super Falcons coaching crew as they continue preparations for WAFCON 2026, with Okoronkwo expected to play a key role in Nigeria's quest for continental success in Morocco.
The Super Falcons will be aiming to reclaim the African title, and the availability of key players such as Okoronkwo is expected to strengthen the team's ambitions heading into the competition.
