WAFCON 2026: World Cup Qualification Our Ultimate Goal – Okoronkwo

Super Falcons forward Esther Okoronkwo has reiterated that Nigeria's primary objective at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) is to secure qualification for the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup in Brazil, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Super Falcons will head to Morocco for the continental tournament aiming to successfully defend the title they won in the previous edition while also booking one of the four available World Cup qualification spots.

Okoronkwo acknowledged the expectations that come with representing Nigeria but stressed that the team is focused on handling the pressure and achieving its targets.

"There will always be pressure. What matters is how we handle it as a team. Qualification for the World Cup is the ultimate goal.

 "Every other country will also fight for one of the four qualification places. It will be an exciting and significant tournament, and I am looking forward to it," Okoronkwo told CAF.

The Super Falcons remain one of the favourites for the title and will be determined to maintain their dominance on the continent while securing a place at the 2027 FIFA Women's World Cup.
