WAFCON 2026: Zambia Coach Targets Victory Over Nigeria

Zambia head coach Nora Häuptle has expressed confidence that her side can overcome Nigeria's Super Falcons when both teams meet in their second Group B fixture of the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) on Saturday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Speaking ahead of the highly anticipated clash, Häuptle said she expects Nigeria to come out with greater intensity after their opening match, stressing that her team is fully prepared for the challenge.

"After losing their first game, I believe they will come all out; otherwise they will be out of the tournament," Häuptle said.

The Swiss tactician acknowledged the quality of the nine-time African champions but insisted Zambia have a clear strategy to secure all three points. "We are aware of their strengths and are prepared for them.

"We focus on ourselves; we have a clear plan on how we want to approach them, and we believe if we execute our plan, we can challenge and beat Nigeria," she added.

The encounter is expected to play a crucial role in determining the qualification hopes of both teams as the group stage reaches a decisive point.
