WAFCON 2026Q: Benin Coach Insists Team Not Inferior To Super Falcons

As the first leg of the 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier approaches, Benin Republic head coach Abdoulaye Ouzerou has maintained that his side is not inferior to Nigeria’s Super Falcons, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Benin will face the 10-time African champions in the final round of the qualifiers.
Speaking after unveiling his 24-player squad for the encounter, Ouzerou acknowledged the quality of the Nigerian team but expressed confidence in his players’ mental strength.
“We’re going to count on their heart, because if you’re physically and technically inferior, you have to compensate mentally. And for me, mentally, they’re ready. We’re going to rely heavily on that mentality,” he said.
The coach further added: “There’s no comparison possible physically and technically we know that, we’re not crazy. But mentally, I believe we can make up for those differences.”
The first leg of the tie will be held in Kégué, Togo, later this week, while the return leg will take place in Nigeria next week.
