The West African Football Union Zone B (WAFU B) has announced new dates for the second edition of the WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup, which will now take place from November 7 to 12, 2025, in Benin Republic, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The competition was initially slated for November 3–10, but organizers opted for a brief rescheduling to allow better preparation and ensure the full participation of all invited teams.
According to the latest confirmation, three nations hosts Benin, Nigeria, and defending champions Ghana will contest this year’s edition, following the withdrawal of Burkina Faso and Niger Republic.
For Nigeria’s Falconets, the tournament presents an opportunity for redemption after their defeat in the inaugural edition held in Kumasi, Ghana, where they fell 3–1 on penalties to their long-standing rivals in a tense final.
Beyond the chase for regional glory, the WAFU B U20 Girls’ Cup continues to serve as a crucial developmental platform for women’s football in West Africa, providing emerging female talents with valuable international exposure and competitive experience.
The regional body emphasized that the competition remains a cornerstone of its mission to strengthen youth football structures, promote gender inclusion, and nurture the next generation of African stars.
