Algeria kept their 2026 FIFA World Cup hopes alive with a resilient 2-1 victory over Jordan in a tense Group J encounter on Tuesday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Desert Foxes, widely regarded as one of Africa's football powerhouses, found themselves trailing for much of the match after Jordan took a shock lead.

 The Jordanians produced a disciplined and organized performance that looked set to deliver a historic result against their more fancied opponents.

However, Algeria refused to surrender. 

Displaying characteristic determination and fighting spirit, the North Africans fought their way back into the contest, first restoring parity with a well-taken equaliser before launching a late surge in search of the winning goal.

The decisive strike came in the closing stages, completing a dramatic turnaround and securing three vital points for Algeria, who now remain firmly in contention for progression from the group.

Jordan, despite the defeat, can take pride in their spirited showing, which for long periods frustrated the Algerians and highlighted their growing competitiveness on the international stage.
