World Cup Playoffs: Gernot Rohr Backs Super Eagles To Qualify
Sampson Adedeji
As the countdown continues to the decisive World Cup playoffs in Morocco, Benin Republic coach Gernot Rohr has declared his support for the Super Eagles of Nigeria, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The mini-tournament will see Nigeria, Gabon, Cameroon, and DR Congo battle for a single World Cup ticket.
The Super Eagles will clash with Gabon in the first semi-final at the Prince Héritier Moulay El Hassan Sports Complex in Rabat on Thursday, November 13, while Cameroon face DR Congo at the El Barid Stadium the same day.
Rohr, who coached Nigeria for five years before taking charge of Benin, believes the Super Eagles possess the quality and depth to emerge victorious.
“Super Eagles have so many high-level players and strikers. We tried against them but couldn’t do it,” Rohr said on Brila FM.
“We beat them during the qualifiers and it was a result we were proud of, but I will be supporting the Super Eagles in the playoffs.”
