World Youth Scrabble Championships: Team Nigeria Star Edges Closer To Podium Finish

Team Nigeria’s youngsters are on the verge of a podium finish at the ongoing World Youth Scrabble Championships in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, barring any late upset, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Team captain Abdulqudus Olawale Aliu, who won 7 of his 8 opening-day games on Friday, continued his fine run on Saturday, securing 8 wins out of 9 to close the day with 15 victories overall.
Aliu currently sits second on the standings, tied on 15 wins with India’s Madhav Gopal Kamath, though the Indian leads on cumulative points with +1933 compared to Aliu’s +1404.
Elsewhere, Nigeria’s Sophia Ebube Ekeruche remains within striking distance of the leaders. She has 11 wins and a cumulative score of +618.
Prestige Archibong and Joy Nwabuzor follow closely with 10 wins each, though Archibong holds the advantage with +971 compared to Nwabuzor’s +365.
In the team event, the battle for the top three remains fierce among Nigeria, India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Thailand, and hosts Malaysia.
India holds a narrow lead over Sri Lanka, Pakistan, and Nigeria, while Malaysia continues to chase from behind.
