Zambia, Three Others Join Nigeria in CHAN 2025 Exit

Five teams have been officially eliminated from the ongoing CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) following Thursday’s decisive group-stage fixtures, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Zambia and Angola became the latest casualties after suffering defeats to Morocco and DR Congo, respectively. Morocco eased past Zambia 3-1 in a Group A clash, while DR Congo secured a 2-0 victory over Angola.

The results leave Zambia rooted to the bottom of the group with no points from three matches and just one fixture remaining. Angola sit fourth with four points from four games.

Group leaders Kenya currently top the standings with seven points from three matches, followed closely by Morocco and DR Congo, each with six points from three games.

With their elimination, Zambia and Angola join Nigeria, Burkina Faso, and the Central African Republic—who were earlier knocked out—in making an early exit from the competition. 

 This is the eighth edition of the African Nations Championship, a biennial association football tournament organized by the Confederation of African Football (CAF), featuring national teams consisting of players currently playing in their respective local leagues. Hosted by Kenya, Tanzania, and Uganda from 2-30 August 2025. This is the first edition to be hosted by three countries.
