AFCON 2019: Mali goalkeeper dumps team over role

By Sampson Adedeji

It seems all is not well in the camp of Eagles of Mali as goalkeeper Mammadou Samasa walked out of the team after the team coach Mohammed Magasouba rejected his plea.

The lanky goaltender has approached the gaffer to make him the team first choice going into the competition but the coach turned down the offer.

The coach immediately called up TP Mazembe goalkeeper Ibrahim Mounkoro as a replacement after he notified him of his decision.

Mali lost to Nigeria's Super Eagles 4-1 at the Semi final in the 2013 edition of the competition.

Mali is group E alongside former Champion Tunisia, Mauritania and Angola.
