Badminton: Egypt Dethrones Nigeria, Win All Africa Senior Championship

The 2020 All Africa Senior Badminton Championship came to an end on Sunday, Feb. 16 with host Egypt winning 3 gold, 0 silver, 5 bronze (8) medals to emerge champions.

Defending champions Nigeria only managed 3 silver, 4 bronze (7) to come 4th after missing out on the team event due to the visa delay the contingent suffered from the Egyptian Embassy.

Former champions Mauritius came 2nd with 2 gold, 2 silver, 2 bronze (6) while Algeria won 2 gold, 2 silver (4) in 3rd place.

Algeria and Egypt qualify for the Thomas and Uber Cup which will hold in May in Denmark after winning the team men and women's events respectively.

A total of thirteen countries participated in the championship which took place in Cairo, Egypt between 9th-16th February.
