FOFSA Promises To Take FCT Sports To Next Level

The Federal Capital Territory Sports Community will soon experience the best of times in terms of Sports administration and development. This is as a result of the outcome of the meeting of all the chairmen of FCT Sports Associations held at the Dalchfit Suite/Gym, Hotel Gwarinpa, Abuja on the 21st of March 2019.
The hotel which is one of the best hotels in FCT is located off 1st Avenue by FCMB, has among other facilities well equipped Gym, indoor swimming pool, five-a-side football pitch on the 3rd floor where table tennis is also played.
The FCT Sports Associations collectively agreed to, and indeed formed a body that will champion the cause of Sports development in the FCT, by the name: FORUM OF FCT SPORTS ASSOCIATIONS (FOFSA) to take Sports to the next level in FCT.
The meeting was ably co-ordinated by Dr. Deshi Peter, a well respected golfer.
An interim steering committee was put in place to run the affairs of the forum which includes, but not limited to:
1.Liaise with the FCT Sports department with the aim of recovering all lands allocated in the FCT for Sports development purposes.
2.Enhance on the need for grassroot sports, development programmes with the aim of discovering hidden/budding athletes.
3.Look at the means of stopping the poaching of athletes by other states from the FCT.

In his acceptance speech on behalf of the committee, Chief Edem Selong thanked the Association for the confidence reposed on the team and promised to use his wealth of experience in sports administration and vast contacts within and outside Sports circles, to ensure that FCT occupies a place of pride in Sports in the Country and even beyond.
Chief Selong promised that in a few days time, a final communiqué will be submitted to the FCT minister – Alh. Musa Bello.
The Forum (FOFSA) has since commenced work.
