Muktar Mohamed Recounts Gains After First League As FCT FA Chairman

By Niyi Busari

The world has just witnessed a remarkable FCT FA league and Chairman, Adam Muktar Mohammed has a lot of gains to behold.

The 2019/2020 FCT FA league won by the Waco Football Academy is the first if its kind under the reigns of Mallam Muktar Mohamed with showers of commendations flowing from home and abroad.

Muktar, in an interview with NTA, monitored by BSN SPORTS said there are lots of positives to hold, including sponsors and partners indicating interest to be a part of the FCT FA projects.

This adds to the revelation of having new clubs spring out and playing in the league.

"The good thing is that a lot of people are wanting to start their own teams. Sani Lulu paid us a courtesy visit. He's going into the league because he has seen what we are doing, Senator Ned nwokolo also, has indicated interest to start his own team in the FCT because he has seen what we are doing. So there is a lot of progress.

"For the league, it was a great success. We did the league, started well, ended well, there were no complains about the referees, the structure, the organization, there was a lot of funfare and the best team won and for the first time, there was prize money, and we are going to register both teams for the finals at the Aiteo Cup.

"Everybody has gone away happy and it shows that we can do it and it can be done and if you use the sponsorship money judiciously. We had a lot of sponsors coming out to support us in one way or the other but what we have done is we have taken a model where we are not taking any body's money but we are telling the sponsors to actually go there, do something for us and that is a bit more accountable for us."

The FA boss, therefore, addressed the concerns of not having a Premire League side in the FCT by noting that the board is only an enabler and do not run clubs.

"For us as FA, we are enablers, we are not the people that run these clubs so the best we can do is to try and give all the necessary support to the teams in the FCT .
