NPFL Roundup: Plateau Utd Hold Lobi To Stay Top Of The Log As Nasarawa Shock Enyimba

By Niyi Busari

Nigeria Professional Football League table topper, Plateau United held Lobi Stars to 0-0 draw to maintain their lead at the summit of the table.

Former champions, Lobi Stars failed to capitalise on their home support at the Aper Aku Stadium as a win against Plateau United would have pushed them to the top of the log.

For most part of the game, the visitors looked better coordinated with some god interchange of passes which left the hosts' fans with no choice than to applaud their beautiful display.

At the Lafia Township Stadium, Nasarawa United shocked the champions, Enyimba International in their 2-0 win on Sunday.

In Port Harcourt, Rivers United outscored Kano Pillars 2-1 at the Yakubu Gowon Stadium to close in on the table toppers with a point behind Plateau United.

Konan N'Gouan 22nd minute lead was cancelled by Rabiu Alli trademark free kick but Cletus Emotan's goal assured victory for the homers.

Aside Lobi versus Plateau United goalless draw, two other NPFL matches also ended in barren draws. At the Agege Township Stadium, Lagos, MFM FC were held their former coach-led team, Heartland FC in an emotional encounter. Also, in Akure, Rangers held Sunshine Stars to make sure that the homers continued searching for a win in two matches.

Adamawa United defeated FC Ifeanyi Ubah as Jibrin Abubakar 22nd minute opener and Idris Abubakar's 69th minute second goal winner for the home team before Ikenna Cooper leveller in the 67th minute ended the match day 21 fixture in 2-1 win for the homers. The win was not enough for Adamawa United to leave the bottom of the table.
