Taekwondo: National Coach Arrives Morocco Ahead of Olympic Team

One of the National Coaches, John Victor, has arrived in Rabat, Morocco ahead of the team for the African Qualification tournament for Rabat, Morrocco to take place on 22nd and 23rd February 2020.

Victor, who departed Lagos aboard Air Maroc, arrived two days earlier than the team in order to participate in the World Taekwondo Coach Certification Level 2 Course, which is a mandatory certificate for all coaches participating at the WT G-4 ranked Olympic Qualification event.

Team Nigeria athletes are expected to arrive in Rabat on 20 February 2020, ahead of the head of team meeting, drawing of lots and weigh-in on 21 February 2020.

Nigeria’s quartet of Ifeoluwa Ajayi, Benjamin Okuomose, Chinazum Nwosu and Elizabeth Anyanacho will be contesting for Olympic tickets in the male -68kg, male +80kg, female -57kg and female -67kg categories.

The team, led by its first female president Mrs Margaret Elizabeth Binga, will be eager to put away the disappointment of Rio 2016 where the national team at the time failed to clinch the ticket.

Nigeria Taekwondo qualified for the Olympics at Athens 2004, Beijing 2008 and London 2012 respectively.
